For consolation, we have at least the proof that we were forced (to yield by superior ?) armaments, to the honour of (our soldier ?) who struggled to the extreme limit of their power.

During the negotiations our representative, General de Verdillac, succeeded in (weakening ?) the influence of General Catroux, the representative of de Gaulle, with the British military authorities who now seem to have only esteem for those (Frenchmen who resisted ?).
