Description

From: Ottawa, October 21, 1941.
To: Vishy.
Message No. 377.

Last week, at the opening of the tri-centennial celebrations commemorating the founding of Montreal the Archbishop (or the Rector of the University ?) used more worthy language than usual when speaking of our country. He said that "worthy of her church, France had always in former days (sent out good administrators ?)". Then he told Canadians that "now you have a double duty to perform towards that unhappy prisoner: ..... (Words which find an increased importance in French Canada where the comments are such as to be most favourable to our cause). Emphasizing the importance of these sentiments, "the world needs France in order to accomplish great things" appears in a Montreal paper.
