# P.O.N.D.

**From:** Algiers, Washington, **To:** Washington, **Nos:** 25297-25301 (Summary)

**Dated:** September 25, 1944, **Sent:** September 29, 1944, **Rec'd:** October 2, 1944.

**Diplo 2339.**

Algiers discusses the problem raised by the reduction of textile manufacture in the United States and the consequent curtailment of French orders for such goods. In view of the political importance of maintaining a steady flow of supplies to North Africa, NAJEM has been asked to intervene and to ensure that goods promised for delivery this year be sent as planned. Algiers approves the missions of MM. BELLEST and ALEXANDRE to Brazil and Mexico respectively; contracts which they obtain may help to compensate for dwindling supplies from the United States.
